EDMOND UPDATE
Exciting things are happening in Edmond for the first time. The general employees have never had 2 general employees on the Insurance Committee before! Brenda Mayer and Amber Armstrong were voted on by the Bargaining Team to represent us during the committee meetings. Now we are equally represented with the Police and Firefighters regarding our insurance issues.
The other exciting news is that the Bargaining Team is going to be finishing proposals for negotiations by the end of the month. If you have any ideas about proposals you would like to see on the negotiating table get a hold of your local Bargaining Team Rep.

EDMOND CITY EMPLOYEES TO JOIN OKLAHOMA CITY LOCAL 2406

(EDMOND, OKLA.) – Today, Edmond city employees announced they will be partnering up with Oklahoma City Local 2406. This partnership represents a diverse group of city employees in Edmond, Moore, and Oklahoma City including 911 dispatchers, child care providers, waste water technicians, and animal control officers, who together will make Oklahoma stronger.
“By joining Local 2406, this shows our commitment to making the City of Edmond, and Oklahoma a better place to live and work and we look forward to having a strong voice in improving city services,” said Edmond Utility Line Maintenance worker Kriston Bartz. “By combining our many talents and resources we will be able to bring better services to the cities we live in.”
Oklahoma City Local 2406 is working to improve public health and safety in Oklahoma City and the surrounding areas, and protecting the city’s most vulnerable citizens from agencies that cut corners. By creating strong labor/management partnerships Local 2406’s goal is to keep Oklahoma strong and our jobs safe.
“This partnership with the city employees of Edmond will help us build a stronger Oklahoma,” said William Bryles, Local 2406 President. “We have an experienced workforce and collectively we look forward to working together with management to make Oklahoma City and Edmond great places to live.”
“In offices, animal shelters, waste water plants, government facilities, and even on the roads, city employees are the ones on the front lines making sure Edmond runs safely and efficiently,” said Terry Lanham, Special Events Coordinator for the City of Edmond. “Nobody knows better than public employees how to make jobs and services run better and together we will make Edmond a great place to live and work.
On May 17th, a majority of Edmond city employees elected to form a union and become
a part of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME).
AFSCME represents 328 workers in Edmond and over 1,000 Oklahoma public employees
have become part of AFSCME since 2004, when the state Legislature passed a bill requiring
cities of 35,000 people or more to recognize non-
